Fullstack Engineer - Backend focused

Our client is a not-for-profit organisation delivering cutting-edge research, policy development, innovative clinical services, and evidence-based training and education for the mental health workforce to ensure that there is
continuous improvement in the treatments and care provided to young people experiencing mental ill-health.

The organisation is looking for a Fullstack Backend Engineer to play a key role in the continued development and evolution of their digital platform. You will join a broad team of software engineers, designers, researches and the wider team of frontline mental health professionals working together to reduce the impact of mental-health on young people, their families and society. 

Key responsibilities and outcomes

 
• Collaborate closely with engineering, design and research teams
• Collaborate and assist in design, development and evolution of services, analytics,
infrastructure to deliver highly scalable, cost-aware architecture components ensuring
best practices and values
• Make significant contributions to the development and deployment of new technologies
and processes
• Implementing cloud infrastructure as code
• Collaborate, share knowledge and demonstrate empathy/appreciation when considering
different perspectives
• Provide technical insight, ownership and first-hand experience crafting end-to-end
solutions and designing complex backend systems
• Comply with and support others and promote a workplace culture that is safe, diverse and inclusive.

Essential

• Proven commercial development experience
• Proficiency with one of: Python, Golang or Javascript/NodeJS
• Hands-on development experience of microservices
• Hands-on industry experience of AWS infrastructure services
• Specification and implementation of RESTful API’s
• CI/CD pipelines and automation, logging, testing, monitoring, scripting
• Containerisation using Docker, Kubernetes
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with proven ability to prepare and present
work in clear, concise and informative manner with appreciation for user/product
• Experience of composing and integrating technology stacks or third-party API/Services
• Attention to detail, software ethics, best practices and quality/security standards
• Ability to problem solve and exercise high level judgement, with skill in determining when
to independently manage versus when to escalate

Desirable

• Experience and proficiency across multiple languages PHP, Golang, Python, Javascript/Node
• Big data services, infrastructure and analytics pipelines
• Proficiency with front-end and mobile tech stacks
• Experience with MySQL

located within the north and west of Melbourne
