They collaborate with major household names across Media, Sport, Corporate, Betting, and Public Sector, providing an array of content, products, and services. As part of their strategic growth plan following recent acquisitions, they are heavily investing in upscaling their teams to ensure the continued delivery of world-class software solutions across the business.

 

This role is offered hybrid from their Manchester office and would suit someone based North West ideally.

 

About the Role:

 

The purpose of the Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership, guidance, and expertise to a team of software engineers. Your role is crucial in ensuring successful project execution and fostering a productive and collaborative work environment. Orchestrating the efforts of software engineering teams, ensuring efficient project execution, maintaining high technical standards, and aligning development initiatives with overarching business objectives. Expected to demonstrate leadership by providing strategic direction, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, nurturing talent, optimising processes, and serving as a liaison between technical teams and stakeholders. Ultimately, the role is integral in delivering high-quality software solutions while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the engineering domain.

 

Who you are:

  • Broad technical awareness with good knowledge working within software delivery and engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of platform and service engineering within a cloud native architecture. 
  • Experience leading a Front End engineering team (remotely in various geographical locations globally), building and leading highly performant teams. Web and mobile their tech stack is Angular and Swift
  • Ability to inspire engineers to reach their potential through coaching and development.
  • Ability to challenge others in doing what’s right for the business.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills and stakeholder management experience.
  • Able to work under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines and quickly update stakeholders on impact (potential or actual) to the defined delivery timescales

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and line manage a team of engineers.
  • Identify, collect, monitor and analyse engineering performance metrics, including SLAs, KPIs, and customer feedback, to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Achieving Results individually and through team, ensuring work is of a high standard, within time and budget expectations.
  • Own technical products and services, current and through evolution
  • Determining product delivery requirements and working with scrum masters and product team form work schedules for the team
  • Define and champion the technical standards, processes & best practices of the team ensuring that those standards are being met consistently.
  • Promote/Drive quality, security and cost mindset through the team.
  • Identifying risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible
  • Set clear goals & objectives of team members and regularly track.
  • Develop team members through coaching.
  • Regularly review skills of team and determine training plans to develop individuals and maintain resilience.
